Installation Process and Preparation Guidelines
Thank you for placing your deposit; we are excited to work with you! Your role in this process is crucial. Please adhere to these guidelines to guarantee a smooth fence installation.
- Timeline Expectations: Although we offer an estimated installation date, delays may occur due to weather, equipment malfunctions, or other events.
- Utility Marking: We’ll make arrangements for marking all public utilities. Usually, marking these lines means that installation will start next week.
- Private Utility Marking: During this time, please mark any sprinkler lines and heads and any private utilities. Additionally, make sure that property lines are accurately designated with property pins, mainly when erecting a perimeter fence.
- Site Preparation: To facilitate a smooth installation process, please clear the fence line area of dog waste, brush, or debris.
- Initial Meeting with Foreman: Before the job begins, you will receive a call from the project foreman. To verify the precise positions of the gates and fence lines, you must be available to meet them on the first day.
If you have any questions, please contact your local office. We greatly appreciate your cooperation and look forward to a successful installation process.
How to Choose an Aesthetic and Functional Fence
As a homeowner or property owner, you understand the importance of fencing for safety and aesthetics. Choosing the right type of fence is a personal decision that involves considering various factors to ensure it complements your style while having its purpose. To assist you in this process, we’ve compiled a list of crucial factors to keep in mind. This advice is designed to help you select a fence that is both practical and aesthetically beautiful, making the selection process easier for you.
Top 5 Considerations Before Building Your Fence
1. Fence Material
Selecting the appropriate material for your fence’s appearance and functioning. Montana Fence provides the following list of materials and their advantages:
- Chain Link Fence: a reasonably priced solution with a reputation for security, durability, ease of installation, low maintenance, and good visibility. Because of its transparency, gardens and flowers may receive more sunshine.
- Ornamental Iron Fence: Ornamental iron gives a classic charm to any home because it is strong, requires little upkeep, and is quite secure.
- Vinyl Fence: Vinyl comes in a range of styles and is robust, versatile, and, most importantly, low-maintenance. It offers a traditional look similar to a white picket fence, allowing you to enjoy the aesthetics without the hassle of constant upkeep.
- Wood Fence: Wood is a traditional option that is inexpensive, environmentally friendly, and versatile in terms of color and shape. Wood can be easily painted or stained to fit the style of your house.
- Agricultural Fence: Agricultural fencing is available in materials such as barbed wire, high-tensile, and electric fencing and is appropriate for gardens, ranches, and farms. Make a decision based on functional requirements, such as safeguarding a garden or keeping livestock in check, as well as personal taste.
2. Size
The perimeter and size of your yard determine the size of your fence. Determining your property lines is crucial, regardless of whether you live in a subdivision or on a more significant land. Using these measurements, we can generate a free estimate based on the style and quantity of fencing materials needed.
3. Weather
The many weather variables in Montana, such as wind, hail, rain, and snow, must be considered when choosing a fence. To avoid problems like wood splitting, material cracking, or sinking, resilient materials must be used to endure climate fluctuations. All of our products withstand Montana’s weather conditions when installed correctly.
4. HOA Compliance
Rules from the neighborhood HOA are crucial to consider while selecting a fence. These rules deal with neighborhood beauty, safety, and visibility. Before buying a fence, homeowners should acquire and review the HOA guidelines. Important things to look for are:
- Length and width of pickets
- Height requirements
- Distance from property lines (setback)
- Approved fence materials
- Necessary approvals and inspections

Beyond functionality, consider personalizing your yard to enhance its appearance. You may change your outside environment and create the ideal ambiance by choosing the appropriate material and color. Our team can help you plan and execute your concept.
